Announcing the launch of Peacham’s Emergency Management Committee
Purpose: Expand Peacham’s community and Town efforts on the preparing, enhancing and involvement towards Emergency Management.
Background: Emergency Management is a State requirement with 2 Major pillars of approach: Local Emergency Management Plan (LEMP) and Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). This year, the current team within Peacham has drafted both plans, then submitted and has been subsequently State approved. The next requirements for the Town of Peacham are to institutionalize the Emergency Management efforts, integrate various aspects within the Overall Town approach and to address the identified Actions Steps in the LHMP.
Request: Select Board is seeking active Community members to help launch Peacham’s Emergency Management Committee. A Town official and Fire Department Representatives will be designated and be part of the committee. The committee will meet at least once a month during the planning stages and be involved in the Town’s efforts during the next Crisis.
Framework: Following the State guidelines towards Emergency Management to include the Emergency Operating Center (EOC) and the Risk Mitigation’s preparedness strategies. A key part of the committee, will be to develop more details of the action plans, formalize the EOC, make recommendations to the Select Board of needs and initiatives. The Areas of Focus have been identified as:
- Community Outreach
- Shelter
- Emergency Operations Center
- Funding
- Infrastructure
- Risk Management
The first meeting will be scheduled Wednesday October 14th at 7:00 pm at 2nd floor of the Firehouse.
